No truer self reflective words.
I want to know WHY. What messed him up so. More than being a military man. What in his upbringing, his history turned him so dark. Was it from far back in youth? Bring scorned, hurt, desolated by mother, father, early lover?
One does not arrive at being sadistic and twisted without causation, usually.
There is a ray of light within, but that is for Season 2….. And shall not be discussed yet.

I’ve always wondered about this too and Diana has never revealed it. You do see his vulnerability later in his love of his brother, but I want to know what happened to bring out the hatred and violence he exhibits toward everyone else. Is it a reflection of self loathing? And if so, why?
