Chapters 13 and 14

Week 7

This week’s The Scottish Prisoner episode is “Trust Me.” Jamie is awakened in his bed by a female intruder. It’s none other than Minnie, The Duchess of Pardloe. She asks of him a task to do with Edward Twelvetrees, but Lord John and The Duke of Pardloe, must not know. She implores him to keep John away from this knowledge. It would be certain disaster if the paths and information cross.

Lord John overhears words and desperation, that break his heart. There’s nothing he can offer in the way of comfort. Nor should he do anything given the situation.

Jamie is in desperate need for peace and quiet. Argus House is nearly as chaotic with busyness as Versailles! He goes on his own hunt for a small place of sanctuary, to secure a fridstool. He finds what he is seeking, only to open his eyes to a shocked Lord John staring at him. Anger ensues. The gap between them since the stable incident at Helwater comes to a near boil. John finally asks him to follow and takes him into a place that will afford some privacy for them to speak. By the end of their conversation, like the newly sprouting vines, their relationship is back on track. At least they have mutual respect, with the past has been put behind them.

Tomorrow they go to Ireland with John’s valet, Tom Byrd in toe. The real adventure begins.
