Chapters 9 and 10

Week 5

Anger, passion, longing, anxiety, fear, to name a few. John and Jamie both are doing battle with memories and difficult emotions.

Jamie finds himself in the grip of a panic attack when he sees Colonel Quarry in the duke’s drawing room. He flees the house for the park across the street. He needs air. With a polite tail upon him, he can move freely. Out of the bushes comes the Irishman, Tobias Quinn. He has designs on getting Jamie out of there to Ireland for his own purposes. Jamie is having none of that!

John is soaked through and angrily walking the flooding streets of London, when an acquaintance gives him a piece of good advice. He makes his way to his favorite club, the Beefsteak. Dry clothes, a bath, and some brandy improve his outlook greatly. His encounter with Harry Quarry and an old Hanoverian friend, give him even more solid footing.

We get to dive in deeper with John in these chapters, getting to look behind the curtain of his private life.  He’s a complex and complicated man.

And Then There Was Laoghaire Voyager Week 13

Voyager Podcast Series

Chapter 34

Listen to podcast!

Chapter 34 offers up this week’s installment, “And Then There’s Laoghaire,” of the Voyager read along. We’re halfway through the book and the omission hits the fan with rage and passion.

Back for only a week and newly arrived at Lallybroch, Claire has allowed herself to be taken in to the idyllic reunion with Jamie, but he has been keeping back the fact that he indeed has a serious obligation to contend with, that he has a family, whether the marriage was a poor idea or not.

Laoghaire is betrayed. Claire is betrayed.

The aftermath of this revelation carries us through this wildly difficult and passionate chapter.

What will Jamie do now that the truth has been exposed?

Please take care in listening, some of the subject matter is exceedingly difficult and may be triggering for some.
