Good old clever, cunning Uncle Dougal. In order to save her from Ft. William imprisonment by Black Jack Randall, he has a master plan to turn Claire from an Englishwoman to a Scot. Though he lacks a magic wand, he does employ Ned Gowan, ESQ who skillfully crafts a marriage contract between Claire and Jamie. Turning her into a Scot means she cannot be compelled to prison without just cause. Marriage to Jamie means voila instant Scotswoman.
Upon speaking to Jamie, he plays it off as he ought repay her for all the healing skill she has wielded upon him and being a good friend. As in a good friend would not turn her into Randall, oh no. So sure marriage sounds about decent to him.
Wisely as they talk, he hands her a cup and pours out a generous drink. She is beside herself, but see no other answer either.
He is quite fine starting the honeymoon tomorrow, as it pleases her. Such practicality. Yet she knows not his true feelings for her. She did not even know his full name (here it was on the marriage contract. Oh I miss the utterance of that line.)
As a last ditch idea Claire asks if he minds she is not a virgin. With a Scottish pause, no he utters. Then the bombshell, he tells her he is a virgin. Better one of them knows what to do. Jamie so endearing. Oh Claire now has some thoughts and a drink.
With contract in hand, Claire is decided. she walks strong back toward the men. That bottle is mine. off she continues to think and drink.
They watch her pass. Murtagh seems quite pleased. Jamie might be a tad bit as well.
A marriage on the horizon. For one, I cannae wait.
